Refugees Permanent Residence

A person recognized by the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) or IRCC as a Protected Person can apply for permanent residence for themselves and eligible family members. This stage is different from the asylum case and requires full disclosure of family members, identity, residence and security records.

The applicant must have a positive decision to be a Protected Person or Protected Temporary Resident and not be a citizen, national or permanent resident of another country in which he can live without fear of persecution. A person who is already a permanent resident of Canada is not eligible for this route. Family members, even if they are not accompanied, must be declared and checked according to the guidelines.

Professional fees are determined after reviewing the applicant’s circumstances, immigration history, number of family members, the complexity of the matter, and the scope of services required. Government processing fees, biometrics, medical examinations, translations, credential assessments, courier charges, and other third-party costs are separate from professional fees unless the written agreement expressly states otherwise.

• Letter or approval from IRB/IRCC or PRRA;
• Passport, identity documents and documents of Canadian status;
• Current IRCC forms, including General Form, Schedule 14, Schedule A and Family Information;
• Documents of spouse, common-law partner and dependent children inside or outside of Canada;
• Marriage, birth, divorce, custody or death documents, as the case may be;
• Photos, address records, education, employment, military service and travel;
• Police certificates for family members, if requested;
• Government fee-payment receipt and biometrics records or medical examinations, as the case may be;
• Explanation of any identity discrepancy or undeclared family member.
