IRAN2023 Public Policy (OWP)

From March 1, 2026, special arrangements for Iranians have become more limited. Currently, this route can only allow some Iranian nationals who have qualified work permits in Canada to extend their work permits. Holders of Visitor Record or Study Permit can no longer change their permit type based on these provisions and must use normal routes.

The applicant must meet all the requirements stated by IRCC, including:

• Citizen of Iran and holder of a valid passport;
• When applying and when making a decision in Canada and have a valid Work Permit;
• His valid Work Permit has been issued no later than February 28, 2025;
• has not previously received an extension license under the new provisions of March 1, 2026;
• convince the officer to leave at the end of the authorized stay;
• register the request no later than March 31, 2027.

A permit may be issued for up to two years, but passport validity and other conditions may limit its duration. Normal government fees apply.

Professional fees are determined after reviewing the applicant’s circumstances, immigration history, number of family members, the complexity of the matter, and the scope of services required. Government processing fees, biometrics, medical examinations, translations, credential assessments, courier charges, and other third-party costs are separate from professional fees unless the written agreement expressly states otherwise.

• Valid Iranian passport;
• Current Work Permit and its issuance date documents;
• documents of presence and valid status in Canada;
• Application form for extension of work permit;
• Photos and identity documents;
• Receipt of payment of government expenses;
• Descriptions related to eligibility under 2026 provisions;
• Medical examination or supplementary documents, as the case may be.
