IRAN2026 Public Policy (OWP)

About This Service

From March 1, 2026, special arrangements for Iranians have become more limited. Currently, this route can only allow some Iranian nationals who have qualified work permits in Canada to extend their work permits. Holders of Visitor Record or Study Permit can no longer change their permit type based on these provisions and must use normal routes.

Eligibility

The applicant must meet all the requirements stated by IRCC, including:

  1. Citizen of Iran and holder of a valid passport;
  2. When applying and when making a decision in Canada and have a valid Work Permit;
  3. His valid Work Permit has been issued no later than February 28, 2025;
  4. has not previously received an extension license under the new provisions of March 1, 2026;
  5. convince the officer to leave at the end of the authorized stay;
  6. register the request no later than March 31, 2027.

A permit may be issued for up to three years, but passport validity and other conditions may limit its duration. Normal government fees apply.

Professional Fees

The professional fee for this service is 1,000 CAD, which can be paid in 5 monthly instalments, interest-free.

Valid Iranian Passport

  • If your passport is valid for less than 3 years, we recommend renewing it before applying.

  • A scanned PDF of both the front and back of your current work permit.

  • Such as a Driver’s Licence, BCID, or MSP Card.

  • For a professional photographer in Canada, click here.
  • We do not need a hard copy or printed photo. You or your photographer can simply email the digital photo to us.

Medical Examination or Additional Documents

  • Required if you have not completed an immigration medical examination in the past 5 years.
  • An immigration medical exam accepted by IRCC can only be done by an IRCC-designated panel physician. To find a panel physician in your city and country, click here.

Government of Canada Application Fee

  • Please pay a total of 255 CAD (100 CAD open work permit holder fee + 155 CAD work permit processing fee) in one payment through our online payment page.

Who can extend a work permit under the IRAN2026 public policy?

Iranian citizens with a valid passport who are in Canada and hold a valid work permit issued no later than February 28, 2025, who have not already received an extension under the new measures of March 1, 2026, and who apply no later than March 31, 2027. All other IRCC requirements must also be met.

How long can the new work permit be valid?

A work permit may be issued for up to three years, but passport validity and other conditions may limit its duration.

Can Visitor Record or Study Permit holders use this policy?

No. Under the current measures, holders of a Visitor Record or Study Permit can no longer change their permit type under this public policy and must use the regular pathways.
