International Student’s Spouse

This service is for the spouse or common-law partner of some international students. From January 21, 2025, the range of qualified persons is limited and the mere possession of a Study Permit by a student is not enough to qualify a spouse.

A spouse or common-law partner may be eligible if the main student has a valid Study Permit and is studying in one of IRCC’s declared groups; including a doctoral course, a master’s course of at least 16 months, or some professional and qualified programs. The relationship must be real and documented, and the applicant for a work permit must also comply with the general conditions of accepting and applying for a Work Permit.

The list of eligible professional programs is subject to change and should be checked directly with the official IRCC page at the time of filing.

Professional fees are determined after reviewing the applicant’s circumstances, immigration history, number of family members, the complexity of the matter, and the scope of services required. To receive an assessment and fee information, please book a professional consultation. After the assessment, the services, professional fees, and payment terms will be confirmed in a written retainer agreement.

Government processing fees, biometrics, medical examinations, translations, credential assessments, courier charges, and other third-party costs are separate from professional fees unless the written agreement expressly states otherwise.

• Passport and identity documents of the applicant;
• Marriage certificate or full documents of common-law relationship;
• Valid Study Permit of the main student;
• Registration letter, employment certificate and detailed program information;
• Certificate of length and type of course and DLI;
• Financial and residency documents;
• Evidence proving that the relationship is genuine, especially in new marriages or separate lives;
• travel records and previous requests;
• Forms, photo, biometrics and medical examination, as the case may be.
