Post-Graduation in Canada

PGWP is a game work permit that certain graduates of eligible institutions and programs can obtain. Studying at a DLI alone does not guarantee a PGWP. The type of institution, the program, the duration of the course, the date of the Study Permit request and compliance with the study conditions are all important.

The applicant should usually:

• has completed an eligible PGWP program at an eligible DLI;
• received the official certificate of completion of the program;
• Apply within the deadline after receiving the confirmation of completion of the course;
• has met the conditions of full-time education, except for the permitted exceptions;
• Prove the language condition related to the type of document;
• In the non-degree programs included, meet the condition of the eligible field of study;
• At the time of application, have a suitable immigration status or check the possibility of restoring the status.

The rules of the language and field of study depend on the type of degree and the date of the initial Study Permit application and must be updated before submitting the application.

Professional fees are determined after reviewing the applicant’s circumstances, immigration history, number of family members, the complexity of the matter, and the scope of services required. Government processing fees, biometrics, medical examinations, translations, credential assessments, courier charges, and other third-party costs are separate from professional fees unless the written agreement expressly states otherwise.

• Evidence of name, length and type of program and DLI/PGWP status;
• Results of an IRCC-approved language test;
• Evidence of the field of study, if the Field of Study condition is applied;
• Description of study break, part-time or authorized leave, if any;
• Restoration documents, if needed;
• Forms, photos, application records and medical examination for specific jobs, as the case may be.
